Marc says: "Customers now expect that the price of their pint will go down, and that if it doesn’t then the pubs are the bad guys, whereas in fact the chancellor has screwed us yet again. This 8% rise that he announced for the 1st of December is on top of the 6% above inflation rise implemented in April this year, and to be followed by a further minimum 2% rise next year. Also when the VAT goes back up to 17.5%, (although it is speculated that it may rise to 20%) in 13 months time, the duty will not be reduced accordingly."
